… with a few words.
Cast on with waste yarn. Knit several rows.
Join sock yarn. Use a knot if you are still an insecure newbie like me.
Set up row counter.
After knitting several rows begin to hang hem.
Continue hanging hem.
Knit first round after finishing hem. Yarn breaks.
Curse loudly. Scare cat.
Start again. This time successfully get to a heel and even a toe. Quit while you are ahead.
Make boy model completed socks as requested by Ina for boost in confidence.
Be happy for new project. Realize that lace is not suitable for Yarn Harlot talk knitting. Panic slightly.

The socks are so cool! And the lace is lovely. But no, probably not YH knitting.
Seems like you’re getting better at the CSM! You’ll be cranking out perfect pairs in no time! Just remember how long it took to master knitted socks!
Great pictures! It’s pretty cool to see the CSM in action.
{schacht – love it } Love it. And yes, lace is not YH knitting. Have fun tonight!
Now I finally uinderstand what “hang the hem” means! I almost cursed loudly in my cubicle when yout yran broke! Them is some happy man feet in his new socks. Hope you found a simple project to bring to Harlot. Not a good place to knit lace. Looks gorgeous BTW. What yarn is that?
It’s a cool machine to be sure but it lacks the je ne c’est quoi of handknitting
Love the new shawl!
Thanks for showing your machine in process! Very cool. Love the lace. So what ARE you taking to YH?
Neat pictures, thanks for sharing.
Enjoy going to see YH, but yeah…lace might not be the best. :/
I might not ever get tired of the CSM posts. They are too cool.
Thanks for all the cranky pix, especially the short row one and the happy man feet (excellent foot flex, btw). Is it permitted to ask, yea, to beg for… more? We can see whither all the yarn is going, but whence does it come?
Hope you had fun avec Harlot.
Th Harlot will be in my area next weekend, but I’ll be out of town….darn! But I have heard her before, and I do have her brand-new book. Jessica, your machine sock knitting is fascinating! And the Baby Surprise sweater is adorable. One of the nicest I’ve seen. It’s on my shortlist. (Of course I have a terribly long shortlist.
HaHa! Sounds like a day in my life with my Legare 400 CSM! I’m actually going to get an NZAK soon. I can’t wait to try it out.
