Sometimes things work out swimmingly. Sometimes they don’t. And sometimes a wait and see attitude is in order. I reached a milestone on the Bog Jacket the other day.

Bog Jacket - one seam done
Seriously crappy photo of not so attractive sweater.

That’s the first of the hundred million miles of garter stitch seams all grafted together. That alone was an accomplishment that wouldn’t have been possible without this site. But when it was all done my spirits were a bit deflated. See the proportion of the body to that sleeve? Yeah. Not so much. I tried it on ever hopeful. Yeah. Also not pretty.

*sigh*

I’m trying to reserve my final assessment until after the other seam is done and the neckline is worked out, but at this point I’m feeling very deflated with this project. I don’t think there is any possible way that this yarn could grow that much lengthwise when it hits water. I suppose that I can always pick up stitches around the bottom and knit down a while, but the prospect seems rather tedious at the moment.

At least these worked out pretty well:

Angora-Mohair-Wool

The angora/mohair/wool blend from the last post. Dry and ready to become something. Still no clue on what yet. Into the stash to marinate it goes!

Also, this is not too bad either:

Not as straight as I would like despite being dried with a weight, but not awful either.

And then of course there are always the fluffy things in life to restore one’s spirit!

Nothing better!

Bog – hmmmmm. I hope something miraculous happens for you. The skeins look wonderful, especially the spring greens. And of course, I’m a bit biased in favor of the last couple photos. :)

The yarn looks fabulous, I love how the green turned out! Is that the roving Bev gave you at Rhinebeck?

Sorry about the sweater….these things happen to the best of us. See every Yarn Harlot book ever published as proof… ;)

Soory about the Bog Jacket. I hope something miraculous happens.

On the flip side, that’s some seriously gorgeousyarn you’ve spun! And, of course, the bunny’s adorable.

    Sorry about the sweater :(

The yarn is gorgeous, both of them. don’t worry too much about the kinks in the singles. That’s the nice thing about lace, blocking will take care of that, though the knitting process itself might be interesting.

Love the last two pictures! She’s so cute.

    Bummer about Bog! Gaaahh!
I think your handspun turned out gorgoeus. Funny how Stitches appears to have her back legs splayed out in the first photo. Stella does that and it cracks me up.

Aww, that stinks about the sweater. But those yarns . . . wow!!! And the bunny and kitty couldn’t help but make anyone feel better. :)

    Sorry about the sweater!

Your yarns are so lovely! Stitches is so pretty…I love looking at pictures of angora bunnies.

So I looked up the Bog Jacket on Ravelry to see what is should look like. I thought maybe it was suppose to be more of a cropped jacket. I have to admire you for keeping it going to finish the other seam. I would have frogged it. I can totally understand your deflatement. I would be too. I am so sorry. On a brighter note, your handspun is beautiful and Stitches is so adorable how can she not put a smile on someones face at the sight of her!!!

Too bad about Bog. It may well turn into something you love at a later date – by your hand…. Cute, cute stitches! And your handspun is ever so loverly!
