Sorry for the radio silence again dear readers. I can only lament to you The Cold That Will Not Leave as my excuse and even that isn’t a very good once since I’ve been doing pretty well since Monday. My only other excuse is that tonight starts my November Teacher Training weekend and being down and out with The Evil Cold left me spending most of this week scrambling to catch up with the homework that is due this weekend. Poor planning and procrastination strike again!

But instead of playing the blame game, let’s just make a list of Thankfulness and call it a week with the promise of knitting to come, shall we?

This week I am thankful for:

1. Better living through chemistry. I’m not a big fan of taking a bunch of “stuff” to make yourself feel better. I’m much more of a fan of supporting the functions of the body with proper nutrition, rest, etc. to let it defend itself, but sometimes you just need a little help, ya know?

2. Despite the neglect as of late, I am thankful that as of this past Wednesday, I have had this little blog running for 5 years now. When I started this, I really didn’t know where it might take me and I really doubted that it would be something that I would keep going for very long. Guess I was a little off on that one, eh? ;) I really can’t imagine what the last five years might have been like without it. I’ve met so many people and it has certainly enriched my life with friends that I sometimes get to give a hug in person and some that I can only hug virtually. What an amazing thing that is. So if you’re still here and you’re still reading, I thank you and I am thankful to have you share this little corner of my universe with me.

3. I am always and every day thankful for my two fuzzy children.

Simba isn't interested - 365.03

They bring such joy to our lives.

What?!?

What’s not to love?!

4. Finally, I know I may seem to come back to this again and again, but please bear with me. Wednesday also marked 6 months since my surgery. In some ways I still find it hard to believe that I can be as whole and well as I am considering what I had to have done. Yesterday my surgeon sent back all my MRI films to me for my records and we took them out to have a look. Six months ago I wouldn’t have had a clue what I was looking at. Yesterday I could clearly tell where my problem had been and could see (in my post op MRI) where things had been removed to get at the problem. My appreciation for modern medicine and the ability of the human body to heal after serious trauma has never been higher. There was a big banner outside the hospital where I had my surgery that said something along the lines of “Amazing things are happening here.” They weren’t kidding. And I am so very grateful.

What are you thankful for this week?

Have a fabulous weekend!!

First of all, the “Stupid Bunny Tricks” video was AWESOME. Gave me a good laugh first thing on a Friday.

Secondly, I am thankful for the telephone. I was working at my LYS last night when the phone rang. I stared at the caller ID for about a ring-and-a-half thinking that the person on the other end couldn’t POSSIBLY be who I thought it might be. But it was! My very favorite neighbor from the Lake was calling to see if I could find some angora for her to use for Santa beards on Christmas stockings and I got to talk to Joanne for about 10 minutes. What a wonderful surprise! Joanne and her husband winter in Florida and I hadn’t talked to her in about two months — since they headed south for the winter. Yay, technology! :-)

    Love the kitteh and bunneh!

I am thankful I found you and that beyond thankful that you let me run wild so often. ;^)

Aww… Stitches is so cute! I love how he comes running for treats. :)

You’ve come so far since your surgery, and it’s wonderful to see you feeling so much better. It’s scary, and mind boggling to contemplate your body gone wrong, but thankfully you got the care you needed. I’m very proud of you for doing so much in the “doing your part” section of recovery.

And hey, did you get my email? I sent you an invite!

Another Thursday flew by and I didn’t do my thanful post. Thanks for the reminder!
I’m glad you have recovered so well since the surgery. Isn’t it amazing what our bodies can do (with the help of modern medicine :-)
