Jessica is an outstanding teacher. I learn something new about my abilities, both physical and spiritual, in each class. The studio atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and the classes are very well conceived to meet the needs of all the students. After about six months time working with Jessica, I find that I am able to do so much more than what I could (or even thought I could) when I began. Jessica is very observant and has the ability to deconstruct whatever it is that I find difficult to do, so that suddenly it is no longer difficult! She’s a great motivator in a warm, humorous, and very positive way. Classes are wonderful, and private session work is especially beneficial. I am very grateful to be one of Jessica’s students.

In 2007 Laura Selmer demonstrated the Nia Technique. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to try it out and have been in love with her classes ever since. Laura moves through each Nia step with grace and agility and her narration of each move makes following along very easy. As her student the benefits I have received are many; more coordination, flow and whenever I hear music I no longer feel like I need to warm up to dance. It’s as if music and movement have knitted itself into my nervous system. I know that whoever has the chance to experience her classes and chooses to make it a regular practice will love it. I highly recommend her classes for everyone!

Jessica is a remarkable yoga teacher. Jessica teaches from her beautiful open heart. Her knowledge, presentation and attention to varying individual needs in regards to the practice all combine to create a truly healing, growth enhancing experience. I have really appreciated how she helps class participants build from a firm foundation instead of simply leading people through poses. She also has a wonderful commitment to making yoga accessible, practical and relevant to our modern lifestyle.

I reread a journal entry from 2005 recently. My words describe pleasure with my work, family and personal life but I also wrote of chronic pain, rashes, swollen feet, lack of energy, low iron, and being out of breath walking up one flight of stairs. “My body is failing me”, is the standout sentence. I took the journal, tour out the pages and shredded them. That is not me I said to myself…not anymore.
Who am I now? For the past four years, I have been a student of Nia, dancing and moving through life. Today, I have a strong, healthy body. It is older yes, gone through menopause, check…rounder than I would like…check again…but strong, fit, whole. With Nia, I move everything. My feet and toes touch the earth and can hold me in a balance pose. My heart is nourished by the music and the. movement and it is strong. I can twirl without becoming dizzy and I can stand tall in stillness. I show up for myself during that wonderful hour-long routine, looking for whole body, mind and spirit nourishment. I find it too. I always end the class put back together, whole and happy. This practice is my dance, my expression, my companion into my elder years. Silvering, fully present and dancing through life. Nia…and me too.- Helen Dalbeck
I was introduced to chair yoga by Jessica at a music seminar I attended this past Spring. I found it very relaxing and motivating. Since returning home I am finding many ways to incorporate it into my everyday life.
Bravo Jessica, no matter where we all start we CAN get in touch with our bodies!

Jessica’s yoga class was fantastic. I had a little bit of experience in yoga from another instructor, however the other instructor did not include much more than just physical poses in their class. In Jessica’s class we began with light stretches and then she would introduce a concept or new breathing practice to be our focus for the class before we began the main asana (physical poses) portion of class. She also incorporated some chant at the end, though she never forced anyone to participate if they did not want to. She was also very accommodating of my needs in class by suggesting modifications to make a pose better work for me, even during group classes. I left each class feeling energized. I also did a private yoga session, and she helped me to find many specific, and sometimes obscure, places where I was holding tension in my body. I left the session informed, with new awareness and with a set of stretches which she recommended for me. She was great to work with and I always felt comfortable in her class. Highly recommended!

Jessica is a thoughtful, informed yoga teacher who tailors each session to her students’ needs. She showed me useful yoga poses for better posture which really enhanced my work as a musician. Jessica’s classes would especially benefit any musician, performing artist, or public speaker . . . or anyone who wants to feel and look better!
