SOS Blog Updates, Week 2

Welcome to Week 2! All groups are present and accounted for, and are knitting up a storm! Grab your favorite frosty beverage, kick off those sandals, and read on. The progress is…socktacular. *g*

From Kathy’s group:

There’s a lot of swap knitting going on this week in my group!

Laura has cast on a Rib and Cables sock for her sock pal with Cider Moon.

Liz started Cookie A’s Twisted Flower in DoodleBird Creations yarn for her sock pal. Beautiful!

LadyLungDoc has finished her Sockapalooza socks this week as well!

Kristy chose the Merino Lace Socks to be her First Second Sock for the summer after hosting a contest for readers to guess which one it would be. Our very own Jessica scored!

Laura finished one Monkey Sock and is still going…

Leigh has cast on another SOS sock – the Spiral Eyelet Socks, and is still knitting away on her Waving Lace socks.

Lisa finished her first Horcrux sock using Opal cotton and has jumped right on to the second sock – her goal is 2 pairs for the summer so she’s on her way.

From Vera’s group:

Here’s what the knitters in Vera’s group have done for Week 2…

From Worsted_Knitt’s group:

Worsted Knitt’s group has some FO’s to offer.

Zuleika started AND finished two pairs of crocheted socks since the last posting. Take a look here, and here.

Tina has finished her Monkeys in self-spun beautiful yarn. She’s finished a pair of perambulate socks. too!

Trish finished her Eleanors, and Worsted Knitt herself finished the Ankle socks.

What to do next?

From Jody’s group:
Katie finished a pair of Latvian Socks in Yarn Pirate.

From Jess’ group:
Karen has posted an update on her sock progress and Kate has finished her second pair. Meanwhile Karen Jo took her socks on a trip to Vegas!
~JessaLu

From Sarah’s group:

Sally has been busy
this week — she finished her Perambulate socks AND got through the
first of a pair of Monkeys, which she’s knitting in a positively
scrumptious-looking yarn from Dream in Color. The fact that she
managed to do all this and still have time to play with her new iPhone
astounds me. :-)

Sammie is
knitting up a storm too. She finished two socks this week — two
socks count as a pair even if they don’t match, right? :-)
One is a gray ribbed sock and the other is a pink footie sock that I
just love. She got started on a third sock — in turquoise –
but is vowing to overcome her “second sock syndrome” and
complete a pair before she starts anything else.

Risa
finished her “vanilla sock recipe” socks knitted up in Socks
that Rock, Red Rock Canyon colorway. Pardon me while I sit here
and covet them for a moment. She’s working now on socks knitted
from her handspun!

Robin’s second
Horcrux sock had an adventure!

Robyn
has a new mannequin foot to photograph/block her socks on. I
love it. :-)

You might recall from last week that Sacha
ran out of yarn for her Pomatomus socks and was rescued by a kind soul
from Ravelry who sent her enough to finish. The socks are on her
blog now, in all their completed glory, and they look great! Her
Sexual Chocolate (I do love that name…) socks are moving along
too.

Saisquoi is plugging
away at her Jaywalker.

Samantha lost
a sock-related challenge, but we aren’t talking about it.
:-)

Rochelle
finished her chevron socks, and I just LOVE the colorway of the new
sock that she’s started.

And now for all the Sara(h)s…

Sara finished a 2×2 ribbed
sock that looks nice and squooshy. Also, check out the results
of her dyeing class!

Sara
finished her Monkeys and I just love them. I’m telling you, the
more finished Monkeys I see, the more anxious I get to finish my
own! Next up for her: Hedera.

Sarah
hasn’t posted pictures yet, but she’s made some sock progress over the
last week. And check out the awesome
color-themed flickr mosaics she made — I can’t tell you how cool they
are!!

Sarah may not have
finished any socks, but she’s got something even more exciting than
socks to write about. You’ll just have to click on over to see
what could possibly be more exciting than a sock. :-)
Congratulations to her!!!

And as for me-Sarah, I
finished Monkey #1 and have started on #2. Unfortunately I
haven’t had a lot of knitting time over the last week, but I hope I’ll
have a finished pair by the next update!

From the CaroleKnits group:
Cece had a very long “to do” list and still managed to finish two pairs of socks last week. No, wait, better make that three. She got a monkey off her back, too.

Cate finished a beautiful pair of Horcrux socks before getting distracted by the Mystery Stole 3 Knit Along.

And finally, Carole finished two socks this week. They don’t match but the word is that their mates are on the needles

From Manda’s group:
Lolee is having a big of a bad knitting mojo right now, but she posted a lovely Charlotte’s Web! Go cheer her on!
Lorette took her sock on vacation!
Lucinda has taken SIX socks on vacation!!
Lynette finished her daughter’s brightly colored socks. Go look and see how many different pairs of shoes the socks match!
I’m not sure if these count as socks in this KAL, but MadelineTosh knit a super cute set of booties, and also gives us the pattern!
Maia is working on a new pair of sidewinders.
Maire wakes her husband up with her sock knitting, and then contemplates CHEATING on her husband’s sock! :)
Malia visits the frog pond, but quickly bounces back with a gorgeous new sock on the needles.
Malin has a mis-matched pair of socks. Hopefully she’ll create another mismatched pair just like it and end up with 2 pairs! ;)
Manda has been slacking on the pics, but has actually started & made decent progress on her Charade sock.
Margaret is also working on the Charade sock in a gorgeous rainbowy color!
Margene is plugging away on her socks.
Marisol finished Boudoir Booties!
Megan posted to say she finished her Monkey socks. Hopefully we’ll see some pictures soon.
Meghann finished one sock and started another!
Mei finished a pair of socks, and also posted about a hilarious, but unfortunate, encounter with her cat.
Melinda is a bit behind, but she finally started a pair of socks! Go, Melinda! :)

From Megan’s group:
This week Miss Scarlett has three in progress socks to show us, and they’re all looking great! Mrs. H got a lot of unexpected knitting time when her husband was taken to the hospital. He’s fine, thank goodness, and Mrs. H’s socks are coming right along, although she still isn’t speaking to her Pomatomus yarn. I am in the middle of my second attempt at a slightly different short row heel than I’ve used before, and I think everyone else must be so busy knitting they don’t have time to email. :)

From Dee’s group:

Eleanor has finished her first socks for the Summer of Socks. Her pattern was very apropos. She made Eleanor socks. Eleanor has a link to the pattern further down in her blog. After you check out Eleanor’s socks, head over to Devorah’s blog and check out the Regia Silk Padded Footlets she just finished up. All hot pink, orange, blue, purple and yellow. As Paris would say, “they’re HOT!”. Emily is out in the flowers showing off her beautiful green cabled sock. No SSS (second sock syndrome) from Emily. She’s already starting her second sock. Y’all need to head on over to Sarah’s Blog. She’s finished some really pretty socks made out of Fleece Artist yarn in the most beautiful blue. While you’re there, send her some bloggy-luv in the comments. Sarah’s feeling as blue as her socks. Let’s help cheer her up with some uplifting comments! When is jaywalking allowed? Why when it’s a razzle-dazzle pair of socks knit up by Elemm. Check out his traffic stopping blue, yellow and green Jaywalkers over on his blog. Elemm wasted no time getting started on another pair. His Vinnlann socks are such a gorgeous colorway. I can’t WAIT to see these finished. Take time to scroll down through Elemm’s blog. He has some really colorful socks that he’s worked up these past few months. It’s well worth the look-see.

From April’s group:
Abby of Ever Decreasing is continuing work on her Vog socks. Sadly, we need to call in the cheerleaders for her, as she has developed second sock syndrome and has started on her first toe-up pattern.
Alison of Alianne Knits finished her first pair! If you recall from last week, I was in love with the striping. Do take a peek and also get a preview of pair #2.
Amber over at Amber Waves of Pain has made some great progress on the knee socks, and also just scored herself some of the new Risata yarn from Knit Picks for some more socks.
Anastacia Knits Regia self-striping broad ripple socks like a dream!
Angeluna at PurlsBeforeFrogs is making beautiful progress on her undulating rib sock. Have you ever seen such a gorgeous colorway?
While wondering what happened to the month of June, Anne was Sitting’ and Knittin’ some more on her SOS socks. Where did June go anyway?
Amy J. has been Knitting in Public, and working on her sock, among other projects. Her progress may be slower than she’d like but her work is gorgeous.
Hey Adrienne: Even in the Bellybutton of California I don’t think SOS stands for stupid ol’ sock! We will all bow our heads in a moment of silence for your sidewinders socks, though. Rest in frog peace, sweet one.
Agnes is Knitting in the Valley like a fiend. Is there a contest for fastest knit sock?
Jen at Knitting Sutra is having more fun with her socks than any of us are having. Her socks took her out for a beer! Maybe we all need to start using her pattern?
Amanda is still feeling a little fuzzy these days. But one thing is perfectly clear: She completed her first flame wave sock!
Aquaknits worries that she’ll be a little scatterbrained when it comes to making her second sock, so she’s got two different socks on the needles right now. Both are just delicious.
Do you know Adelle? That Girl is Crafty! She just finished the highly acclaimed Giotto socks we’ve all been loving. Great job!
Amy H from Sticks n Mud finished her first pair of socks this week. She’s still not sure about the color, but I think they’re lovely.
In the midst of baking cakes for the enemy Amanda has been making great progress on her socks. Do take a peek at her Twisted Flower Socks especially.
Anastasia came out to play with Amy at Blue Thing Pie. Isn’t she just a pretty little thing?

From Melinda’s group:
SOS Week 2 from Melinda’s Group
First off I have a correction to make with regards to Obsidan Knitter.
Last week I wrote that she had finished sock A of her first pair of SOS socks. That sock was
actually the first of her second pair of socks. I missed her post dated June 24th
stating that she had finished her first pair of SOS socks. Sorry for the mixup Obsidan
Knitter! In the week that has passed OK has finished her second pair of SOS socks, and
has started on her third pair. This will be her second attempt at toe up socks. Best of Luck!
Orghlaith has had a bit of a slow week. She
has only managed to finish the ribbing on her second Denmark sock. Could it be due to the
warning of a certain yarn harlot?
Pam has some sock knitting mojo going on. She completed two pairs of
socks this week, for a grande total of 3 pairs of SOS socks. WOW!
Pat K has just turned the heel on her 2nd
Simple Trekking Sock, pattern by Miriam Felton. Your on the home stretch now Pat!
Paula has finished her first Carolina sock, using
panda cotton yarn. The second one has already been casted on. Way to go!
Phoebe finished her Horcrux socks while
on vacation and is currently working on a pair of Brigit socks and the ever popular Solstice
Slip pattern. Hurray!
Last but not least, Not That Kat
finished her Embossed Leaves socks that I mentioned last week. The next pair she is
working on, will hopefully be entered into the SOS design competition. Go Kat! Also check
out her blog to read all about her good socks that went bad.

From Tina’s group:
Just a few tidbits of news from the S-Team:

Shannan has finished up her first pair from her own handspun and started on another.
Shannon is progressing on her two at once “insanity” socks.
Sheri Roy started a Sockapalooza sock on the Canada Day holiday.
Stephanie has frogged and restarted more times than can be counted, but has learned so much about her own way of knitting/designing that it’s almost ok that there’s still only half a sock that’s come out of it. (She may disagree with me on that!)
Sue has finished a pair of Monkey socks!

From Jean’s group:

Jean’s blog report:

Ok, we are hard at it and there is lot’s of sock knitting going on in our group this past week! Janelle Fine is working on Monkey Socks at the beach. Hege Svendsen in Norway finished a pair of Lazy Summer socks that are so cute. Becky Annison in the U.K. is working on her second pair of socks, the Embossed Leaves pattern from “Favourite Socks,” and says she has “fallen head over heels in love with the star toe. I feel that I want to put it on everything, including non-sock projects, even possibly non-knitting projects.” Hmmm, think I’d better see about getting that book/pattern! Heather McCoy finished a pair of Conwy socks and tells a wonderful story on her blog about why these socks mean so much to her. Garnprinzessi in Germany has a problem: She’s busy moving and has no time to knit socks right now! I hope she upacks her yarn stash first! Heather Lovely in New Hampshire is working on some lovely blue variegated socks in what looks like a lace pattern. Heather #1 is progressing slowly on a beautiful pair of Jaywalker ankle socks. Janet is working on Monkey socks. She says she is on her second sock. That is because she always knits sock #2 first, so she doesn’t ever suffer from second sock syndrome!

From Cecilie’s group:
Chihiro finished a pair of gorgeous socks.
Chelsea keeps making progress on her sideways knitted socks despite some problems, the cable socks for her Sockapalooza is very near having a mate as well.
Tekopp finished the embossed leaves socks, before moving along to more lacy prettiness (aka Pomatomus) and a pair to knit while reading (aka plain stockinette).

From Jen’s group:

As we wrap up Week 2, many of us have made mad progress.

Joanna of Wool-Crazy in Ottawa wrapped up her Aran Sandal Socks and is cruising through a pair of Gull Wings from “Socks, Socks, Socks.” She’s using cushy Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton Multiringel, and is loving the result. Send Joanna some good juju; she has a precious parcel from The Loopy Ewe stuck somewhere in customs!

Jenna of Knitting Haven has been holed up in her cabin knitting up a storm. She’s working on a pair for her Sockapalooza Pal in Stone Barn Fibers yarn in the Ominous Skies colorway. She’s also got Sweatpea Socks from the latest Knitty on the needles in luxurious Claudia Handpainted Yarn. Niiice.

Jo Ann of Shamrock’s Gloves has her second pair of Monkey Socks on the needles. Poor thing lost her first pair, needles and all, while taking care of her sick mom. This knitter needs our good juju too.

Jen of Knitting Interrupted didn’t let a little flu stand in the way of making great progress on a lovely Jaywalker for her mother-in-law. She’s got a second Jaywalker in the works for her dad in “Princeton-y” colors.

Jen from Out of the Basket finally finished her first SOS sock. You may recall that she had a few hiccups getting started on this puppy. She expects to finish the pair over the weekend. Sock speed, Jen!

Itchy Fingers Jess has Undulating Ribs from “Favorite Socks” on the needles in her own hand-dyed yarn, a colorway she calls Fruit Snacks. Jess is also keen to cast on some Illusion Yarns in the Lotus colorway, but isn’t sure what to knit. Stop by her blog with a link to your favorite sock pattern.

Jeanne managed to set the Wii down (I’m not sure I could) to make good progress on a Monkey sock in a Lisa Souza colorway called Earth Birth. Joan of Call me Fishmeal is diligently working on a Moorish Lattice sock. And Jess of The Bugs is working on a snakey, mock cable pattern.

Jean of the Golden Purl left her heart, but not her Loksins, in San Francisco. Can you think of anything better than socks and Ghirardelli? We’ve got another case of start-itis, however. Jean’s got a Loksin, a Spiral Boot Sock and a new “no pattern” sock vying for attention.

Speaking of socks out and about… Jeannie, The Traveling Knitter, took her socks on the road, and has set the bar pretty high for “Socks on Vacation” photos. Check out her Monkey Socks at Glacier National Park.

We also have lots of new finished pairs.

SOS sponsor, Jessica S. of Alabama Fiber Dreams, finished up her Lorna’s Laces Sport socks in the Black Purl colorway. Arrrr! Jennifer from the Knitting Kitchen is cranking out summery anklets in Cascade Fixation. And Jeannie from Sewing, Knitting and Beyond finished up her FOURTH pair: Crest of the Wave from “More Sensational Knitted Socks.”

Super Jessica E. of Show Me Your Knits is working on her second pair or River Rapid Socks. This time she’s trying out Socks That Rock Silkie. This will be her third pair of SOS socks. Last week, she snuck in a pair of Solstice Slip Socks from the June installment of the Rockin’ Sock Club — totally droolworthy. BTW, Jessica’s family is dreaming large, expecting a whopping 50 pairs from our hero. Nothing like a little pressure, eh Jessica?

From Barb’s group:
Ayumi has finished a pair, but they don’t match!! She finished 1 Seduction and 1 Breeze, WTG!!
Babbling Stacey has finished a pair in Socks That Rock color Little Bunny Foo Foo, they are so pretty check them out!! WTG!!
Badly Shorn Sheep is coming along on her pretty lime green pair, they are going too be pretty!!
Barb has finished 1 Jaywalker and the 2nd is started.
Baseball Knitter has finished 1 Embossed Leaves sock and has the 2nd underway!!
