Weekly Link Contest Winner #3

This was a really hard choice this week. It took me a while to narrow it down to one person because you’ve been sending in some great links! Keep it up and remember, if you didn’t win this week, you can resubmit for the contest for the following week. Also, please remember to check the rules before you submit to any contest. I’ve placed a link to all the rules posts near the top of the sidebar here to help you find them easily.

Now without further ado, this week’s winner is:

Jude!

Jude had this to say about the link for a sock calculator she sent in:

I think this is the best sock calculator ever. I’ve used it many a times to determine the best way to to knit my sock patterns.

Point taken! If you’ve never used a sock calculator before, this is definitely a good one to try. After swatching (I know, I said the s-word! ;) ) you plug in the numbers from your stitch and row gauge in the appropriate places, select a size and the calculator does the rest of the math for you. This one even allows for some customizations outside of the usual size requirements and gives very specific instructions for number of rows to knit on a heel flap and other specifics. For those of you that are interested in giving toe up socks a try and maybe even some magic loop knitting, the instructions include these techniques. If that’s not your cup of tea, the calculator itself would still be handy for figuring out sock measurements and stitch counts and I bet if you played with it, you might even be able to make it work for crochet too.

Keep the links coming everyone!

Sock on!! :)

I was completely floored today when I opened up my SOS2007 link, and I had won the weekly link contest. I never in a million years expected this! I figured that this link had already been sent in, but decided….What the Heck.

Sorry, Jen, for stealing your thunder.
